Eight hats. Eight colours. Music detection. Physics. Auto-sleep. System tray. Free roam. A lot of duck for zero dollars.
8 body colours to choose from: Classic Yellow, Snow White, Cotton Candy Pink, Sky Blue, Sunset Orange, Grape Purple, Mint Green, and Firebrick Red. Switch between them any time from the control panel — the change takes effect immediately.
8 colours8 unique hats to choose from: Crown (royalty vibes), Cowboy Hat (yeehaw), Baseball Cap (sporty), Party Hat (always celebrating), Hard Hat (safety first), Combat Helmet (battle-ready), Boater Hat (nautical chic), and Beanie (cosy season). More hats planned for future updates.
8 hatsDesktop Duck detects when Spotify or YouTube Music is actively playing and reacts accordingly. Your duck gets a little more animated when the music's on — it's subtle, but it's there. No data about what you're listening to is collected or stored.
Spotify + YouTube MusicClick and drag your duck anywhere on screen. It has proper physics — when you release it, it settles naturally with a satisfying little bounce. You can fling it across your screen or set it down gently. It never gets lost off the edge.
Satisfying every timeLeave your desk for 60 seconds without moving your mouse or typing, and the duck finds a pillow and falls asleep. It'll stay asleep until you come back and click it. A nice reminder that it's always watching, even when you're not.
60s inactivity triggerDesktop Duck lives in your system tray (near the clock on Windows, or the menu bar on macOS) when not active. Right-click the tray icon for instant access to show/hide the duck, open settings, or quit. Zero desktop clutter.
Always accessibleEnable free roam from the control panel and the duck wanders your desktop entirely on its own. It'll mosey from edge to edge, stop to look around, and generally live its best life. Completely autonomous. Zero productivity guaranteed.
Full autonomyOn first launch, you'll be prompted to name your duck. The name appears above them and in the control panel. Change it any time. Some users have reported naming theirs Gerald, Sir Reginald Feathersworth, and simply "Bread."
Personalised companion~4MB install. Minimal CPU and memory usage — you won't notice it's running until you look at your screen and see a small yellow duck staring back at you. Desktop Duck is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Win 10+ · macOS 12+Desktop Duck has a few secrets built in. One involves pressing Alt+C. We'll leave it at that — discovering it yourself is half the fun. If you find anything else, feel free to open an issue on GitHub and let us know. Some secrets may not have been documented yet.
